Pneumatic Hammer

 

Developed in the late 1890’s, this tool revolutionized the stonecutting industry.  It eliminated the need for a hand held and swung hammer to impact the chisel.

They come in a variety of sizes for different stone carving needs.  The smaller sizes are used for detailed, fine work. The larger sizes were used for roughing in large areas of stone.

These pneumatic hammers were manufactured by the Dallett Company, Philadelphia, PA in the 1930’s.  They are still used today by Kling Memorials,Butler, MO.
